I have been following the "dumbphone" trend online for a few years now. I think most people can almost feel how negatively short forms of media affect us. "doomscrolling" isn't a very positive term after all. As someone who has stuggled with depression and anxiety for years, my way of using social media to get my news seemed especially harmfull. The whiplash between cute cat videos and horrible political updates was a bit too much for me. That being said it's still important to be updated on what is happening here in America right now, but it's best to take the time aside from everything else to read the news from multiple sources so you can actually absorb it. The best way to do that was to limit my social media or at least tiktok, reels, sorts, etc. There are many ways to limit our time on social media on our smartphones without having to make the switch to a dumbphone, but addiction can be hard to curb when all you have to do is redownload apps to gain back access - Which is the cycle I found myself in for a few years before finally deciding to make the switch last year.

I made that swap in July, from my Iphone to the Nokia2780. It was as easy as taking my sim out of my smartphone and popping it into the Nokia The first thing I noticed aout having my flip phone was that it was much easier to get up in the morning.
